Portland Green Streets Celebrates Our First Year – Sept 26th!

Monday, September 8th, 2008

This upcoming Green Streets Day, Friday, September 26th, is also the 1st Annual Celebration of Portland Green Streets.  We started out in mid-September of 2007 and it’s been quite a year – so now it’s time to celebrate!  (Mayor Suslovic will be delivering the City’s Green Streets Day proclamation at 5:30!)

Wear green and go green as usual on Green Streets Day – and then come out for some fun from 5-9 pm that evening at Green Streets sponsor Slainte, located at 24 Preble Street (off Monument Square, right across from the former Public Market) in downtown Portland.

Thanks so much to all of you who signed in with your participation in Green Streets Day, Friday, August 29th (initial notes and photos here)! Despite folks making the Labor Day weekend exodus, we still had a good number of documented participants. And with people now able to report others going green at their locations, we have an estimated number of 280 total participants!
